Reggio Emilia
The child is an active builder of their own learning.
Creativity and poetic languages matter. They help children build a rich, complete picture of the world.
Learning
Peacocks is inspired by the preschools of Reggio Emilia in Italy and guided by Te Whāriki, Aotearoa’s early childhood curriculum.

Our vision
Reggio Emilia
Creativity and poetic languages matter. They help children build a rich, complete picture of the world.
Te Whāriki
The national curriculum sees every child as secure in their place and able to make a valued contribution.
In practice

Expression
Paint, clay, wire, music, movement and talk. Every child has many ways to share what they think, and we treat each one as real thinking.

Belonging
Te reo Māori, tikanga and the stories of Aotearoa are part of the day. We celebrate the many cultures of our families too.

Materials
Fabric, timber, stones and shells can be anything. When the material doesn’t decide, the child does.

Outdoors
Learning happens outside as much as in. Children grow a love and respect for the natural world by looking after it.
“Help children communicate with the world using all their potential, strengths and languages.”
